We're back!
and we had a fabulous time! We're probably the only people who head to a hurricane ravaged town that is worse than ours for a vacation but it worked out. We stayed at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi. There is nothing there, casinos and a few things inland. Everything on the coast, all the old homes, everything, is just gone. The rebuild of the casino is gorgeous though, you can't tell it was ever even damaged. We overhead someone at the front desk say they had water up above the top floor (at least 12 feet). We were upgraded to an amazing corner room on the top floor with windows on two walls for a city view and a view of the Gulf of Mexico for as far as the eye could see. The best part of the room.....the bathtub!!! Showers have been a must for a long time around here as we don't have finished walls around our tub, our fixtures are not attached, etc. So to take a real bath was heaven!
The best part was spending time together, reconnecting without the kids. We haven't been alone in such a long time. We went shopping and held hands (you can do that when you're not pushing a stroller), we had a nice dinner and didn't have to cut up food in tiny little pieces, I had my first sips of wine in two years, we stayed up late and gambled in the casino and then we slept in past 8 o'clock!! Yeah baby.
I am so thankful for my Mom. She is so great with the kids, worked so hard to make us being away from Taryn for the first time easy on all of us. Taryn did fantastic even though I am still nursing and she missed two feedings while we were gone. I was worried but she did great. So now we're back, heading into our third year, happy and reconnected.
